Healthy Minds, Makes Happy Hearts, Mental Well Being Event

On Sunday July 11th 2010 the Healthy Minds, make happy hearts, mental well being event will take place at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. This is organised by and for people with mental health problems, by the Healthy Minds steering group, which is facilitated by Birmingham Mind. The event is aimed at anyone who is receiving support from mental health service in Birmingham (rather than just people supported by Birmingham Mind).

The group has been successful in obtaining a grant of £8,430 from the Awards for all fund (part of the big lottery fund) to pay for the event and the group would like to say a big thank you to the Big lottery for all of their support.

The event runs fro 10 AM - 4 PM on the day, with the morning given to over to four workshops on key areas in mental health.

  • Young People & mental health.
  • Time to change campaign - tacking stigma.
  • Alternatives to medication.
  • Getting a job and keeping a job, when you have mental health problems.

After a buffet lunch, the afternoon session will concentrate on Wellness and the wide variety of activities that can keep us well (So will include a juggling workshop, Tai Chi, arts & crafts and information about different support services amongst many other attractions).

Leaflets are now being distributed for this event (So it’s not just the World Cup final that is on Sunday 11th July!)

Unfortunately this event is now fully booked.
